Iranian Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi said Wednesday that Tehran will take revenge on the U.S. for its involvement in recent events, including the assassination of a renowned nuclear scientist and university professor, according to Iranian government news agencies.
“People are angry at those who staged the scene of recent events and terror attacks, but revenge should be taken from the U.S. itself for these crimes and, God willing, this will happen,” Mr. Naqdi said, addressing a gathering of commanders in Tehran.
Referring to the assassination of the Iranian university professor and nuclear scientist, Masoud Ali Mohammadi, he said the attack proved that the West is opposed to the production and development of sciences and technology in Iran.
“The terror attack against martyr Ali Mohammadi showed that the Democrats ruling the White House have reached a dead-end and are staging a scenario which (Former U.S. President Jimmy) Carter performed 30 years ago,” Mr. Naqdi said.
Iran has been presenting what it refers to as “documents proving West’s interference in Tehran’s affairs and its role in stoking the unrests” which allege “Western powers had played a direct role in the unrests.”
On Aug. 1, Iran launched the trials of a large number of dissidents, who it has accused of being agents, with certain foreign countries, which “contributed a role in fomenting unrest,” according to an Iranian government press release.
